Free pattern: the ALWAYS READY Pouch
Share
When I thought about a practical pouch to put my makeup in, I wanted it to stand upright easily without collapsing when opened. I also wanted to be able to use the materials we sell in-store, so you can find everything you need in one place. So I sketched a pattern for my ideal pouch, we tested it, and now I’m offering it to you as a gift!
We have also added a "Colorblock" version to the pattern, which we do not explain here, but it is very easy to make. If needed, send us a message!
You need:
- 1/4 m of canvas, quilt cotton, poplin, coated cotton, or other non-stretch fabric for the outside of the pouch
- 1/4 m of canvas, quilt cotton, poplin, coated cotton, or other non-stretch fabric for the inside of the pouch
- 1/2 m of non-woven interfacing, like thePellon 973F
- 130 cm zipper

Step 1:
Fuse the outside of the pouch following the manufacturer's instructions.
Step 2:
Fold the zipper in half and make a slight cut in the middle, on each side.
Step 3:
Apply the zipper right sides together on the opening of the pouch.
Step 4:
Ensure the markers are properly aligned.
Step 5:
Place the lining and the outside of the pouch right sides together, with the zipper sandwiched between the two pieces, pin and sew.
Step 6:
Proceed in the same way to place the zipper on the other side. Apply the zipper right sides together on the opening of the pouch.
Step 7:
Place the lining and the outside of the pouch right sides together, with the zipper sandwiched between the two pieces, pin and sew.
Step 8:
Topstitch on each side of the zipper (optional).
Step 9:
Open the zipper.
Step 10:
Place the zipper right sides together on the opening of the pouch. Place the lining and the exterior of the pouch right sides together, pin and sew the sides indicated in the photo, leaving an opening at the bottom of the lining to turn the pouch right side out.
Step 11:
Sew the 4 corners of the pouch right sides together to form the bottom of the pouch.
Step 12:
Cut off the excess zipper.
Step 13:
Return the pouch through the lining opening.
Step 14:
Close the opening with an invisible hand stitch or a straight stitch on the sewing machine, close to the edge.
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT!
