The DIY pouch kit without zipper

If our tutorial onAlways Ready Kitmakes you hesitate because zippers scare you, or if you simply don't have a zipper on hand, here is an ultra-easy alternative! In the end, you'll have a pouch in a bundle style that stays perfectly upright when you fill it, but without the complexity of sewing a zipper. Inspired by the need for simplicity and functionality, this pouch is designed to meet your needs while allowing you to use the wonderful materials available in our shop or from your scraps!

You need:

- 1/4 m of canvasquilt cottonpoplincoated cotton, or other non-stretch fabric for the outside of the pouch

- 1/4 m of canvasquilt cottonpoplincoated cotton, or other non-stretch fabric for the inside of the pouch

- 1/2 m of non-woven interfacing

- 2mFabric pieces measuring 25.7 cm x 6 cm for the casing

- 2 pieces of 80 cm rope

 Step 1:

Fuse the outside of the pouch following the manufacturer's instructions.

 

Step 2:

Fold the piece of fabric that will form the casing in half lengthwise and press.

 

Step 3:

Fold each corner by 0.6 cm and press.

 

Step 4:

Fold each corner again by 0.6 cm and press.

 

Step 5:

Sew each end.

 

Step 6:

Fold the casing in half and place it on the right side of the outside of the pouch, making sure to align the centers properly.

 

Step 7:

Place the lining and the outside of the pouch right sides together, with the drawstring sandwiched between the two pieces, pin and sew.

 

Step 8:

Iron. Repeat with the other side of the pouch.

 

Step 9:

Place the liningsright sides together and the 2 outer pieces of the pouch right sides together, aligning the centers. Pin and sew at the places indicated in the photo, leaving an opening at the bottom of the lining to turn the pouch right side out.

 

Step 10:

Sew the 4 corners of the pouch right sides together to form the bottom of the pouch.

 

Step 11:

Return the pouch through the lining opening.

 

Step 12:

Close the opening with an invisible hand stitch or a straight stitch on the sewing machine, close to the edge.

 

 

Step 13:

Topstitch around the edge of the pouch (optional).

 

Step 14:

Insert the first cord using a safety pin, and go all around the pouch.

 

 

Step 15:

Insert the second string on the other side of the case and make a full circle. Tie the ends together.
