Noémie Zicat

I wanted to share with you a simple little pattern to make a pretty cotton banner. I think it's a beautiful decorative accessory and a really easy beginner's project! You will find the free pattern HERE and a set of jute rope and wooden dowel in the online store right HERE .

Material:

- 32 inch (81 cm) jute or macrame rope.

- 12 inch (30.5 cm) wooden dowel, 7/16 inch diameter, drilled at each end 1 cm from the edge

- 2 pieces of 35 cm x 30 cm of 100% cotton fabric

- Vinyl or appliqué (optional)

Step 1:

  • Cut 2 pieces using the template provided.

2nd step:

  • Sew right sides together all the way around except the top with a seam allowance of 3/8 inch (1 cm).

Step 3:

  • Cut 1/8 inch from the seam allowance and notch the tips.

Step 4 :

  • Turn the banner right side up. Take care to gently pull out the corners and iron.

Step 5 :

  • Fold top 3/8 inch (1 cm) from edge and iron.

Step 6 :

  • Fold again at 1.25 inches (3 cm) and iron.

Step 7 :

  • Sew in place 1/8 inch (3 mm) from the edge

Step 8 (optional) :

  • Lay an iron-on vinyl or appliqué on the front side of the banner.

Step 9 :

  • Insert the wooden dowel into the channel previously formed. Insert one end of the rope into the dowel hole and tie. Repeat with the other end of the rope. And There you go!
